TEA ANDREOLETTI
Saint Sylvia

In Primo Luogo
Via Garibaldi 18/ Via Corte d’Appello 7bis, Turin

Opening Friday 3 November at noon.

3-4-5 November 2017
from noon to 10 pm

As customary during the days of Artissima,  Progetto Diogene is glad to present a new project by artist Tea Andreoletti, the final result of her residency Bivaccourbano_R in 2016. Conceived especially for this occasion, this new project, in line with her recent ‘participative’ artistic research, will be showcased at the venue In Primo Luogo.

On the 3rd November, while the weekend of the artistic-commercial kermesse opens in Turin, the Christian calendar commemorates Saint Sylvia. Andreoletti will partake in the celebratory atmosphere prompted by the art fair and celebrate Saint Sylvia, by taking a culturally shared popular tradition to the centre of Turin. Focusing on the coming together of the two celebrations and on the objectual overabundance of social fetishes, the project Saint Sylvia will create the chance to convert economic value into sentimental and cultural value. Namely, it will use artistic practice as a tool to reconsider both individual and collective behaviour.

“Can crossing the threshold of an exhibition space take us into the atmosphere of a place?”

Saint Sylvia is about the morphing inclinations of the exhibition space and how it can incorporate the viewer, immediately making him or her subject and author of that place’s atmosphere.
This project is part of the artistic research that Andreoletti calls experiential art, in which visual art becomes instrumental in loosening up relations and hierarchies, and in freeing the experience from pre-defined opportunities that hinder the processes of emotional and intellectual knowledge.
