What does it mean to let go of a familiar place? To move or be forced to leave?
In my talk, at the Tram I’ll discuss these dynamics and how they shape my work through temporary manifestations of something that existed at one time and is no longer there. These practices, more present in my works since I moved to the U.S., were introduced inTurinat“blank”intheevent“campovolo”(2011) andinmylastsoloexhibition“The broken places /2” (2012).
Paolo Piscitelli, born in 1971 in Venaria Reale, Italy, lives in Pittsburgh where he teaches Sculpture at University of Pittsburgh.
He works with drawings, sculpture, installations, video/performances and sound assembled in hybrid compositions dwelling a liminal space between different dimensions and linguistic systems.
Paolo Piscitelli already has exhibited internationally in many shows in private spaces like e/static,Turin; StudioTucci Russo,Torre Pellice; Galerie Paul Andriesse, Amsterdam, as well as in public spaces like Torino‘s GAM; Bologna’s GAM; FRAC-Bourgogne, Dijon, MLAC, Rome; Lawndale Art Center, Houston; Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin;
